Each card collection is personal and reflects the interests of its owner. The first rule of collecting is that there are no definitive rules on collecting. Select has listed below some general guidelines to assist all collectors:

• Limit your collecting to something achievable. It is impossible to collect every card ever produced. 
• Know what you are collecting. Ask questions of dealers, other collectors and of the manufacturers.
• Establish an emergency fund for bargains.
• Get to know other collectors and trade with them.
• Establish a good relationship with a dealer. Ask other collectors about the various dealers and who they recommend.
• Go to collectors fairs to meet dealers and other collectors.
• Most of all have fun!
